Field Notes

Notes:

I watched this young Red-tail fly down from his perch on a pole to catch a vole. He flew off into a nearby tree to have a nice little meal.

Thanks Christy, Phil, Ashley, nursejurs and Emily. This young hawk has been in the same area at the Parker River NWR most of the winter and isn't afraid of people. I was told that yesterday he caught 6 voles in a few hours while another photographer was watching. Apparently he caught more than he could eat and left a couple of the voles on the ground and flew back to a perch.
