Description:
Several termites can be seen, they were constructing an extension of their mound which was already massive spanning about 3 feet. They are most active at night and take darkness as their opportunity to construct without disturbance. At daylight, construction of the extension is completely sealed and no termites can be seen. In the photo, most of the termites are workers with a few soldiers which can be identified with their slightly larger heads. Most of the workers are paler compared to the soldiers, also their heads are dark orange meanwhile the body is creamy yellow to white with gray.
Habitat:
These are subterranean termites, meaning they live or create mounds using the ground, tho they do start off from wood but gradually transition to soil. This mound was around 3-4 feet and it was attached to the wall of my garden, it seemingly appeared out of nowhere, only a matter of weeks for the mound to form. Unfortunately I had to remove it as it would get even larger and eventually damage the wall it's sticking to.
