Field Notes

Description:

A large dark coloured moth, maybe 3 inches across.

There were many of these moths at night around my hotel, and I was continually disturbing them doring the day out looking for butterflies. They would fly up, travel a couple of meters and disappear under the foliage.

Habitat:

Seen on the outside of my bungalow at the top of the Rift Valley in Arba Minch, Ethiopia

Notes:

The first 3 were taken with flash, the last on a slow camera setting. More like the true colour.
