Description:
Pieridae; Pierinae; Appias lyncida lepidana Fruhstorfer 1910. "The PIERINAE are a Group of butterflies in the family Pieridae (order Lepidoptera) that are named for their white wings with black marginal markings. The adult butterflies have a wingspan of 37 to 63 mm (1.5 to 2.5 inches). Sexual seasonal dimorphism in pattern and colour occur in many species." Philippine Lepidoptera. The specimens shown here are males.
Habitat:
I spotted the first two of these male Appias lyncida lepidana specimens on a Tropical Whiteweed (Ageratum conyzoides) in our farm. The third was spotted on a stand of Bamboo (Bambusa sp.) nearby.
