Field Notes

Description:

Venomous-The body color is light to dark gray. A longitudinal row of black or charcoal, transverse blotches disrupts a reddish brown stripe running down the middle of the back. Smallest venomous snake in Florida.

Habitat:

Flatwoods

Notes:

Found in backyard streched out in the shade of a Pine.

Thanks! Karen-these little guys do not have the same potency of venom as a diamondback, hasnt been a recorded death from a pigmy most cases is just a painful swelling. Carol- Im always careful and have plenty of experience and respect for them :)

WOW! It has beautiful markings despite it being venomous. Be careful in your backyard.

Nice shots ! Either you were being very brave, or you had a good telephoto lens! :) these little rattlers have the same potency of venom as a full grown diamondback ! Yikes.
