Field Notes

Description:

Striking beetle with a red body and vertical black and white striped elytra. The white parts are sparkly

Habitat:

Flooded oak forest

Notes:

Notes from a bugguide admin who placed my photo in the proper species & subspecies:
"Moved from Disonycha leptolineata tentatively. More consistent with series of confirmed specimens than with confirmed leptolineata, or near.
- tone of red vivid (orange to scarlet) - vs. pinkish;
- red elytral margin wider than outer white stripe - vs. opposite;
- shape appearing more ovoid - vs. more parallel."
