Field Notes

Description:

Leaves about 1 mm, perichaetial leaves with hyaline, terete awn; cells pitted to sinuose, porose throughout. Marginal cells bistratose in width, thick-walled, cells not elongated in alar region; costa 3-4 cells wide, no abaxial ridges, 3-4 cells deep.

Habitat:

Growing on Boulder in filtered sun at 600' elevation. Boulder was of marine sediment.

Notes:

I have been jumping between several species to get an ID on this. Either Grimmea, Schistidium, or Racomitrium.
