Field Notes

Description:

Massive, ox-like appearance. coat a smooth fawn or tan, with or without narrow, white, vertical body stripes. Tail thin and long with a black terminal tuft. Ears small and narrow. Male has a rug-like patch of brown hair on forehead; darker blue-grey coat: massive neck and shoulders and and a conspicuous black-tufted dewlap on lower throat. Horns are nearly straight, with one or two tight twists.

Habitat:

Acacia savanna, Masai Mara
