Field Notes

Description:

A small green frog that is white underneath with a black throat.

Habitat:

Numerous in the yard after a heavy rain in central Iowa southwest of Des Moines.

Notes:

I believe it is either Hyla chrysoscelis or versicolor. "The two species appear physically identical, and consequently more studies are necessary to delineate where the species overlap. (Collins and Conant, 1998)."

I've chosen Hyla chrysoscelis based on the call as outlined in the link to the right.
