here is one in a defence posture,mimicking a rattle snake. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/37886018
Non-venemous but - "When threatened by anything as large as a human, a bullsnake's primary defense is to rear up and make itself look as large as possible. It typically then begins lunging and retreating at the same time in order to escape." - wiki
Ha! Lucky you looked. They look like they would hurt a bit.
30-36 inch... Taken out the window of my work truck as I was doing trail maintenance... I saw it just as I was about to hop out...
