Description:

one of many shells scattered along the shore of the lagoon (see notes)

Habitat:

Gulf of Suez

Notes:

"Most of the year the animals live offshore in sand or muddy sand but in the early spring come into quiet, sandy, silty lagoons to breed. By late spring the shells cover the bottoms and shores of these lagoons." ~Seashells of the Egyptian Red Sea by M. Rusmore-Villaume

Thanks! I love to see the different variety of molluscs that live in the Gulf of Suez. We don't see these where I live, on the other side of the peninsula on the Gulf of Aqaba coast.
