Description:

Silver moth with some brown spots. About 25 mm wing span.

Habitat:

Oak forest.

A VERY interesting moth! This is a member of Alucitidae, the many-plumed moths. There are 180 species as of 2011, but new ones are being found very rapidly. If I had to guess, I would say, A. montana, but I think a genetic DNA sample would be needed to fully confirm a species. http://bugguide.net/node/view/496633
