Oh and I forgot to mention the white ring around the tip of bill and base.
yes the gray flanks and the stiff looking necks are good signs of the Ring-neck. Please update the spotting
Your very nice photo, which includes the female, helps me believe these are Ring-necked Ducks, vs. Lesser Scaups. (Thank you for helping me practice my ID of these two, which I had been confusing!)
