Field Notes

Description:

The moorhen has a dark plumage apart from the white undertail, yellow legs and a red frontal shield. It has white stripes on its sides. Males and females are similar, but males are a little larger. The young are browner and lack the red shield.

Habitat:

New plowed ricefield.
