Field Notes

Description:

This bird has a brownish tinge suggestive almost of a Golden Plover but this appears to be an effect of the bright sun reflecting off the sandy mud. Decreasing the brightness on the original brings out the grey patch surrounding the bottom half of the eye and the paler forehead of the juvenile Grey Plover, see pic 5 which is an adjustment of pic 4. Also Grey Plovers are more at home on muddy estuaries while Golden Plovers prefer grasslands. My opinion.

Habitat:

Tidal estuary.
