Field Notes

Description:

This largish long-horned beetle is about 1 7/8" long, with antennae more than 2" long with 3 prominent barbs on each. It has brown elytra (wing covers) and a thorax ribbed from side to side (see #4).

Habitat:

It flew into the house through an open door at night, was very active, loud buzz. Surrounding the house is rainforest in the foothills of the Maya Mts, of western Belize.

Notes:

Just sayin': If I were to give this beetle a common name, it would be Mexican Long-horned Beetle. But I won't.
