Field Notes

Description:

L 7.5" Distinguished from Eastern Towhee by white spotting on back & scapulars. Amount of white on tip of tail differs to make geographical races.
S. Calif race is megalonyx.

Habitat:

Second growth with dense shrubs & extensive leaf litter

Notes:

I saw this bird on a hike in chapparel & in my urban canyon back yard.
