Description:

The tiny southern coastal violet is known along the coastal region from Mississippi to the southern portion of North Carolina. The flowers are blue-violet with a broad, nearly white center. The rootstock is thick and fleshy. Flowers occur in March and April.

Habitat:

These southern coastal violets were spotted in a pine wooded savannah forest at Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge in Gautier, Mississippi.
