Description:

The ʻōhiʻa lehua is endemic to the Hawaiian Islands, it can grow in a form of a tall tree or in a small shrub. The ʻōhiʻa lehua has opposite small oval leaves that can vary from light to dark green. It's flower is a bright red or yellow with brush like stamens that clutter together. The fruit is a woody brown capsule.

Habitat:

Found at 5,000-5,500' elevation in the upper Waiakea Forest Reserve. The ʻōhiʻa lehua was found in a montane tropical rainforest kipuka.
