•They eat grasses, leaves, buds, tree bark, roots, lettuce, cabbage, root vegetables and grains.
•They are known for digging networks of burrows, called warrens.
•They are social animals and live in medium-sized colonies.

Habitat:

Vegetated patches, open prairie
