Field Notes

Description:

Black bug with yellow spots found under a mushroom on a tree. The bug is about the size of a pinky finger and the mushroom is about two times the size of my hand. The top of the mushroom has rings that are varying shades of brown. The bug seems to be some type of beetle and the mushroom seems to be some sort of shelf mushroom because there are a couple more mushrooms like this one on the same tree.

Habitat:

On a mushroom that is growing on a tree in Singapore American School's secondary rainforest.
