Description:

This is a volunteer plant. It came up in a pot probably seeded by the birds. roots have left the pot and are invading my fishpond.
It is located under a Fruitless magnoliaa tree so it gets little light in the summer the the tree is full.
It provides a haven for birds... so I am happy... but what is it

Habitat:

Urban backyard in Ca. Central valley
