The Afternoon Iris
Moraea sisyrinchium
31.6323, 34.9495
Field Notes
Description:
This is a rare albino morph of a usually blue flower in the Iridaceae family, called the Cape tulip, or, in Hebrew, the afternoon iris. This latter name appeared because the flowers remain closed in the first half of the day and open only after the sun has passed its zenith.
Habitat:
Mediterranean shrubland
