Best I can do is try to find the flower again, amongst all the other similar species, and take more photographs.
I thought maybe this would be Calendula tripterocarpa. Will be very helpful if you have picture of calyx...take a look this link : http://www.actaplantarum.org/floraitaliae/viewtopic.php?f=109&p=289588 looks very similar to your flower :)
I think the flower head size was only about 2 cm so maybe Calendula arvensis which is good for the habitat?
This is, probably, Calendula sp., Marigold, I'm not sure which species, will try to find the ID...
