Description:

Cladonia asahinae (commonly known as the pixie cup lichen) is a species of lichen in the family Cladoniaceae.[2] It grows on moss, particularly Chorisodontium aciphyllum, Polytrichum strictum, and Andreaea species.

Habitat:

Found on acid mineral soil, moss and humus, especially in open sites, at all elevations; sometimes on tree bases; common. Found at the base of a cottonwood tree.
