Description:

This Green Heron was hunting alongside the boardwalk at the birding center in Port Aransas this afternoon. He raised his crest twice but always chose to do so when behind vegetation so I still don't have a photo of this species with a raised crest; but otherwise, he was cooperative!

Habitat:

Freshwater pond with marshy surrounding area
