Description:
This Hawaiian green sea turtle is a subadult. Based on its size. It has a clean carapace and the turtle is basking on a sandy beach in Kona, Hawaii! Their flippers are paddle like and they have an unhooked beak.
Habitat:
The Hawaiian green sea turtles have multiple habitats, depending on their life stage. During the juvenile stage, the turtles can be found in convergence zones in the open ocean. Continuing into subadult/adulthood turtles continue to swim in the open oceans to feed and migrate. Feeding normally takes place near shallow coastal waters and bays. When the turtles reach maturity (between 25-35 years of age) they migrate to French Frigate Shoals to nest and mate.
