Field Notes

Description:

Tall (up to 3 ft) green stalk w/ thorns. Purple bloom head w/ thorny leaves surrounding the head.

Habitat:

Pinelands, fields, and disturbed sites. This specimen was spotted along side a small county road w/ several other thistles attracting pollinators.

Notes:

Also know as Yellow Thistle because it can be yellow in color.
