Short-horned Grasshopper
Unidentified Acrididae
15.4557, 119.92
Field Notes
Description:
These two grasshoppers appear to be nymphs, because although they look very robust and heavily built, they only have small stubs of wings which are just starting to grow. I can't give much of a description, other than what can be seen in the photos. They are very dark brown (or black, depending on the angle of the light), but the pictures show just a glimpse of white markings on the inside surfaces of the rear femora and maybe also on the tibiae.
Habitat:
These Short-horned Grasshoppers were spotted in foliage growing wild in a rice field, just a few days before it was ploughed for the new planting season.
