Field Notes

Description:

A small falcon with long, pointed wings. Has long, banded tail. Faint mustache mark. Brown streaking on chest and belly. Back unmarked gray or brown.

Habitat:

While driving home after spending the morning at Cape May Point State Park in New Jersey, I saw this Merlin perched in a tree eating a bird.
