Description:
Roughly the size of feral pigeon, this corvid is a bird of striking colors: light-brownish bird with azure blue wing spots, and cream-black face. What I found very interesting in their appearance was the fact that, in a difference to its counterparts from other parts of continental Europe, the Caucasian races sport distinctive black crown (check here one of previous spottings of Jays in France and Switzerland: https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/1856887950). Eurasian Jay is a very loud bird, and like all members of crow or corvids family (Corvidae), reputed really intelligent.
Habitat:
Jays thrive in wooded areas - they are also known as acorn hoarders (collecting acorns for winter), so they are often found in oak forests. During our trip through Georgia, I observed it few times, including in that montane areas. These pics are coming from the periphery of urban setting of Tbilisi, as this bird was observed on cliffs of wooded area of Botanical garden.
