Field Notes

Description:

Dark gray or black, somewat iridescent. No crest. Silent. Perched above re-cycled water pond in a city park frequented by ducks and geese. About 30" (84 cm).

Habitat:

Seen inland in the Sonoran Desert. Not its normal habitat! It is normally found on coastal cliffs.

Notes:

I could be completely wrong about this identification, but this may be a juvenile coastal bird that got blown inland. Never seen one here before.
