Field Notes

Description:

This Debris-carrying Larva.looks exactly like the one in https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/1989954038... So, it is also probably from the family Chrysopidae. There are some very similar examples shown in https://bugguide.net/node/view/72302...

Habitat:

This Unidentified Debris-carrying Larva was spotted in our backyard. It was crawling around on the dead foliage of a small shrub which appears to have withered and died due to lack of water in the dry season.

Notes:

It seemed rather unlikely that this little creature would be able to extract any nutrition from this very dry foliage, but the thought occurred that it might be trying to pick up some leaf fragments or other debris.
