Field Notes

Description:

A freshwater fish with an abundance of dark spots on its head, fins, and long thin body. It had an elongated mouth with many needle-like teeth to catch other fish and crustaceans.

Habitat:

Can be found in quiet, clear pools and backwaters of creeks, rivers and lakes with abundant aquatic vegetation.

Notes:

Spotted at St. Marks near the East River Pool and double dikes
