Field Notes

Description:

These huge (60in/150cm) and pretty scary storks were roaming around the picnic area that we stopped in on the way to the Serengeti. They were waiting for somebody to drop their guard with their lunch and grab it from nearby with their huuuuge bill (14in). they have an average wingspan of 11ft and are sometimes referred to as the 'undertaker bird' due to their dark cloak of feathers and bald neck.

Habitat:

Seen at a stop off point on the way to the Serengeti, Tanzania.

Now Im glad that I commented on your photo ;) yeah they are kinda scary when they approach you and have that massive bill and come up to your chest in height! I think the bald head make it look a little vulture like you're right
WOW! That is a strange stork. Almost has a vulture look to it. Great series.
