Notes:

About 2 cm. Thanks for the ID - does look like the photos, though my guy looks a bit like he's on steroids with those hind legs.

No, keep it like this. Ant Bug is also correct, but mostly refered to the nymphs which really looks like ants. You may add the additional names in the description field. If someone search for ant bug, then your cool one will also be shown!
Should I change its common name to ant bug?
Thorsten, there is one more for you to take a look at it: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/108986129
Just once ;-). ¡Pura vida!
Oh, only nearly? Did we have an ID fight once? ;-)... Anyway... ¡Pura Vida!
Yes, I agree with your ID, Dominik- as (nearly) always ;-).
At least you agree with Hyalymenus sp., don't you, Thorsten? I know, there is probably no chance to get closer.
I'm afraid it would be difficult to get closer than Hyalymenus sp. - because of the variation in this genus :-(
Alydidae, Alydinae, Hyalymenus sp. http://www.austinbug.com/alydidae.html http://bugguide.net/node/view/39758/bgpage http://www.americaninsects.net/ht/hyalymenus-sp.html http://coreoidea.speciesfile.org/Common/basic/Taxa.aspx?TaxonNameID=1186454
Hi Sue, I'm gonna contact a colleague trying to get an ID...
Ah, thanks. I don't have lots of time, I'll try to be more careful though! Though honestly I think it looks more like that than the other ones. When I get a free moment I'll look a bit more.
Sue, Camptopus lateralis is an European/Mediterranian species...
I think it looks a lot like this except that the hind legs on mine are even bigger... http://www.asturnatura.com/fotografia/fauna-invertebrados/camptopus-lateralis/16319.html
Well, Alydidae is a family. Would be great to get closer...
So is it okay as listed now? Or should I keep hunting? Thanks.
Sue, I don't think so...
Hmmm but maybe Camptopus lateralis?
Looks like a broad-headed bug, family Alydidae. (Very distinct legs! Reminiscent of a Coreid bug).
GREAT spotting, Sue!
