Field Notes

Description:

The Sweet Potato Bug is "Brown in color with black legs, individuals grow to be about 2 cm (0.79 in) long. Like other Coreidae, P. grossipes is oval-shaped with segmented antennae, a numerously veined forewing membrane, a metathoracic stink gland, and enlarged hind tibia." (Wiki)

Habitat:

Crawling around the morning glory plant in the Prek Toal Core Bird Reserve, Tonle Sap Lake, near Siem Reap.

Notes:

There had been very little rain during Cambodia's wet season and the water in the Reserve is quite low...so low that at this particular point we had to turn the boat around because the water was too low to continue on!

Thank you Jonathan Hiew for identifying this little critter :)
