Description:

I found a large number of these larvae near the barn, perhaps half a dozen or more. Thanks to Leuba Ridgway for help identifying the species!

Habitat:

These larvae were found in tall grass.

Happy for you Harmony. They are pretty butterflies. I suppose that's the best way to find what's going on around you - making these links. I have learnt many things this way. A series of shots like you've provided makes it easy for an ID. Thanks.
Leuba Ridgway, I believe you are right! Finding the species in this case is very exciting for me, as I observed adult Gulf Fritillary butterflies the same day, but didn't put the two together until the ID was made.
