Field Notes
Description:
March 31, 2013
Approx. early afternoon.
Across the street on 13th and Troy.
Habitat:
Sharp-shinned hawk have a very large territory (habitat) and most likely was looking for food in the 'hood but most likely had its nest closer down by the river.
Quite common (for a hawk) in this region and they are highly adaptable to urbanized areas apparently.
Info given via my father - former original owner of the Wild Bird Centers (he's the one who started the stores ca. 1988-1990 but no longer is involved).
