Field Notes

Description:

Relatively large frog 2-4 in. that is identified by the two rows of dark spots on back and yellow color on underside of hind legs. These frogs produce toxins which are irritating to humans and fatal to other small animals.

Habitat:

Found from Canadian maritime provinces south to the carolinas and west from Minnesota to Texas. Prefers slow-moving streams, ponds, lakes and swampy areas with low, dense vegetation.

Notes:

Was found in swimming pool.
