Description:

A small estrildid finch, smaller than sparrow. In pics 1 to 3, juveniles, just after eating; pics 4 to 6 - adults feeding on a tall grass next to a waterway. Juvenile are all brown, with shiny grey beak; adults are delicately coloured, upperparts brown, head and chest dark brown, green glossy shoulders, underparts white (for a close shots of adults, my previous spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/184246721)

Habitat:

Ubiquitous estrildid finch of sub-saharan Africa, I observed them in various environments - usually close to tall grasses. Here, in wooded area of a city park in Abuja.
