Field Notes

Description:

What I thought was an Ant turned out to be a flightless female wasp that very closely resembles an Ant. Approx. 6mm long, it was running around digging in the sand but froze still when I got close with the camera.

Nice spotting. Velvet ant, fam. Mutillidae; cannot get any closer.
Thanks trigs, helps when they sit perfectly still :)
