Field Notes

Description:

A striking Bee, metallic wine-colored on the thorax and dark metallic blue-green on the abdomen, 1 cm long. It was very attracted to our sweat and they happily landed on our hands, arms, clothes and bags as well as the nearest leaves around us. I think it is a sweat bee, family Halictidae and a very friendly little bee.

Habitat:

Along the highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km. 11.5, Chiapas, Mexico.
