Yes, I agree with Oeonistis altica. I have one spotting of it from Maliau Basin too, also a great place for unique birds.
I had this same discussion with Argy Bee on vagrants from New Zealand arriving in Australia. I think seasonal wind patterns may be more limiting than distance although 5000km is considerable. Anyway, you know your ground better than I do. Jealous of the glider by the way! :-)
It must be nearer 5,000kms from India to Borneo, much of it over the sea, and Borneo is known for its high amount of endemic wildlife due to its isolation. For me, I leave the IDs for the local experts in most cases. I agree vagrants can and do turn up almost anywhere (we had a confirmed Snow Bunting here last week).
I thinks its the same with the birds, there are lots of lookalikes but they are often different species and endemic to Borneo.
Just a note. I get moths that are thousand km and more from their range fairly often. Worth remembering
If yours might also be yellow and the info is correct, that Entella is actually not native/found (really?) in Malaysia than you are right, then it should be Oenistis altica and it is then Yellow Tiger Moth. I think Malaysia starts getting a nightmare for me ;-)... Most of my wrong IDs are coming from this corner!
Chun used this info: http://www.mothsofborneo.com/part-7/plesiomorphic%20genera/plesiomorphic_6.php and it states entella is restricted to India & Sri Lanka.
Bayucca, do you think it is more like this one: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/16670117
