Field Notes

Description:

This mushroom was two inches high and two inches wide. The color varied anywhere from white to dark brown.

Habitat:

In soil and debris.

Not sure if I am right but I think it might be bleeding milkcap (Lactarius rubrilacteus) which is supposed to bleed red latex (assuming that's what I can see in pic 2). Apparently often confused with L.deliciosus (saffron milkcap). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lactarius_rubrilacteus

That's what I thought, but I couldn't figure out which kind though.
