Description:
The "beija-flor-de-fronte-violeta" is an apodiforme bird in the Trochilidae family, also known in Brazil as "tesoura-de-fronte-violeta". It measures approximately 11.1 cm and has a bright green violet-blue cap, white tuffs on crisso, steel-blue rectrices and a black beak. The female has the dirty white bottoms, side rectrices with white tips, forehead and lower side sometimes washed cinnamon.
Habitat:
Occurs from Bahia and Minas Gerais to Rio Grande do Sul and to west, until the Mato Grosso. It is also found in Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina.
