Field Notes

Description:

Another carnivorous plant seen in many places along the trail. Pitcher plants have "pitfall traps" for leaves. Pitcher plants lure in prey with visual tricks or the false promise of nectar (depending on the species), and the prey falls in and gets digested.

Habitat:

Found in the moist, grassy areas and next to puddles along the trail at Hal Scott Regional Preserve and Park
