Description:

This dragonfly was about 3 inches long. Common green darner have a green thorax, blue (male) or brownish (female) abdomen.

Habitat:

Spotted near the Tamarac Visitor Center. Common green darner live in well-vegetated lakes, ponds, marshes, preferring habitats without fish. They eat many types of flying insects.

Notes:

This dragonfly is one of the most common and abundant species throughout North America.
