Field Notes

Description:

Small brown fragile mushroom growing in dead wood. It starts from little button-like growths visible at the base of the full-size mushroom. The edges are ragged. The last two pictures show the underside gills (using a mirror).

Habitat:

Hillsides of Mt. Huitepec above San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico 2,600 meters.
