Description:
The robber flies of this genus are elongate and almost completely hairless; the mystax is reduced to a weak whitish group of hairs. The dominant colors are reddish brown and brownish yellow, but color patterns of black, golden, and silver occur in some species. <br>
These insects are predaceous, and often prey on insects larger than themselves. Their principal prey consists of aculeate Hymenoptera, and their predation on honey bees often causes significant economic damage (Bromley, 1930); they also prey on Odonata and Diptera, including members of the same species.
Habitat:
Diogmites genus is one of more strong in the Asilidae family and this critter was found near the jungle of Atlantic Forest, in a place where they are very easy to be found all years, between the months of January and March.
